don't know bout you
but i love contrasts
the bigger the contrast
the more i like
if you ever see me and baba walking together
you will see contrast
shawn phillips and bob flanagan
now there is contrast
and yet..i see similarities
sometimes...not always but sometimes
contrast is the closest thing to being one and the same
just from totally different ends of the spectrum
shawn phillips has been my musical guru since i was 13
i still don't understand why he was never elected god
i really never found an artist that was so important to the people he reached
you will have to trust me on this....give him a listen
it is each part and the sum of the total parts....never..let`s make that NEVER have i found such an artist
i am having trouble finding words today....but shawn phillps gets deep into you
ok yes i am a 15 year old in a 51 year old body
i first heard these lines in 1971 and they help me still

they calm me
listen to this mans voice...both the voice itself which is the voice of a skinny opera singer...and the wisdom you hear in the voice
listen to shawn....then watch sick...a documentary about bob flanagan
bob was a performance artist who suffered from cystic fibrosis
i guess it was painful
to learn to live with the pain...bob inflicted pain on himself...he did some pretty nasty things to himself
usually his loving..and i do mean loving partner helped him
it is both a terribly disturbing..yet heartwarming and touching film
it hits you in sort of the same way that shawn phillips music hits you
it just comes around from the other side
